Hello Old Dice. It's Me, Old Jimsy

You know it's really sad. my family owns a large collection of video games, and I don't have a single one to play. I've either beaten it or I don't want to. Wait. I don't want to play a video game? There are video games that I could beat, but I would rather not waste my time? What games could this possibly be? Too many to count. How a company could invest so much into something like a video game and still come out with this stuff is beyond me. What am I alluding to? Story. The last video game I played with a story that can actually compare to others would have to be FFVIII. And that came out in 1998. There have been a few games with livable stories, like FFX and...uhhhh...okay so that's it. I'm not talking stories that are okay for video games, I'm talking stories that I can compare to books. I don't know why books aren't more popular. When was the last time you played a video game with graphics as good as your imagination? Anyone? That's what I thought. I don't know. Video games just are so bad. Why am I writing this? Anyone with a life wouldn't care. Regardless, there's your guilt trip of the day. Go do something worth doing.

Hello Old Dice. It's Me, Old Jimsy

Why does Madden suck so much? I've been playing '05 recently and it sucks. First of all, the difficulty. Rookie and Pro are far to easy, where as All-pro is practically impossible. In Pro you will most likely get at least 50 points a game. Where as on All-pro you'll lucky to get one touchdown. Sounds like fun to me. You also have to love the coin toss challenges. It gets really funny because the booth will challenge a fumble you made, it will cleary be a fumble, but they will overturn it anyway and say you were down. The fun stops though when it's really obvious that you had the play and the refs call it right in the first place then flip a coin and decide to switch it and it costs you the game. I also love it when COMPUTER controlled recievers will turn the wrong way from a pass they are recieving and let the ball hit them in the back. Or when DBs will knock down easy interceptions because you couldn't see choose to control the right player since it's completly based of who's closest to the ball. And the computer hates you soooooooo much in this game. They purposely set it up so that the computer would choose a defense made exactly to stop the play you are doing. So even though you are in a possible pass formation, they know you are running so they blitz the whole secondary. Why not audible? You can, but they will just switch to a play suitible for yours. It gets really old. In the end I have no idea who programed this game, but I hope they get fired. I'm hoping that '06 is better, but given what I already know, my hopes aren't high. Good luck with this one.

Hello Friends and Enemies.

To go from adventurer to racer is no easy task, unless you're Jak. If you haven't seen it, the Jak X site is up, and it looks so bad! Jak has left his days of adventure behind, as well as his other responsibilities. (If you beat Jak III you know what I'm talking about.) With a character designed like some kind of weird old, new biker, Jak looks almost like he wants to be Steve McQueen. Another strange point is that the apparent evil doer has what sounds like a German accent (although, in retrospect, I guess their were a few characters in Jak III with English ones.) Over all, it looks like we're stuck with the same new Jak, the same new Daxter, and much of the same future as the last two games. Let's face it, racing in both Jaks II and III wasn't a whole lot of fun (especially in II,) and the over all look doesn't look good. Over all, My hopes for Jak X are lower then they were at first, which, by the way, were none.

Hello Friends and Enemies.

Well,I,like some good NFL players, have ended my hold out. And, with a quote from Cary Grant, I'm on the war path. Hopefully (yeah, hopefully) in the next couple weeks, months and years, you can feel my full fury about the "golden age" we're in now. To start, a abbreviated version of the fall out of some of the reviews in the gaming magazine "Game Informer" and certain reviews on the show "X-play." First, to "Game Informer." I don't know what games you're playing and for how long, but, I personally feel you're praising all the wrong games. For example. Xenosaga, or as I like to call it Zinosider, is such a huge waste of time and money. In short, it's Garbage! The story, the characters and their design as well as the writing and complete lack of music are very reminiscent of the game you suffer through during a all night nightmare!! "X-play" guys get BG points for mocking it for it's horridness, but you both sunk to a new low when you both went borderline racal with your comments about Cao Pi. If you have to mock it, do it by talking about how anyone on the staff should have just taken the five minutes to look up the proper way to pronounce his name, which, by the way, is pronounced with a soft, not hard c. Frankly, I don't see why your mocking it at all. I personally find the Dynasty Warriors series incredible enjoyable. Unlike another game the you both loved and that I find to be one of the great let downs off current day games. I speak of Jaks 2 and 3. The last two Jaks are the main reason why I HATE the Grand Theft Auto Series. Jak n' Daxter is still one of my all time favorite games. So when I saw that they were making a Jak II I was ecstatic. Unfortunately, all we got was a game based solely in the slums of a city in the middle of a ten year war. Not to mention the fact that it took about as much time to beat that as it did one and three put together. Yeah, I really, really hated Jak II. On the other hand I really loved Jak III. Spoiler warning!! A easy pick for at least a top Seven spot, that is, until they got rid of all the plot in all the games. In my opinion, a unforgivable mistake. I could say all reasons, but it would take far to long. All and all, it didn't just slip out of the top seven, it willingly fell on to the soft landing provided by it's name and general game-play feel putting itself at a very reluctant 18 or 19. I will say this though. The one thing we can agree on is the non stop fun that is Burnout 3 Takedown. nothing like racing at 190 to 200 mph to get the blood flowing, I also can't help but love the takedown aspect of the game. Over all, I hope you'll continue to read the updates that I hope to continue to post. I also fully intend to write full reviews concerning most of the games here, as long as I've played or seen them played.
